Title Card

After 4 years of doing media and creating media products I have finally prevailed and have got to call a production Aurora. I am extremely happy.

So to prove to Brittany this was the right choice we had been toying with ideas for our title card, one of which was to have red petals scatter across the screen and spell out the name ‘Aurora’ however the connotation of red being attached love and romance we decided agaiIMG_4559nst using red rose petals, we then thought about what if we use a colour from the Ophelia bath scene, however this would take away how striking the red roses were but still I shall explain how we painstakingly made this title card which is not being put to use ( I am still sorry Brit )

So, to make this we took a rose petal image took out the background, we then scaled it down to the size we needed and arranged all  246 of them to create this name, but me being me, the annoying brat I am, suggested that we should key frame all 246 so that they fly in, whilst IMG_4562I was creating another aspect of the short film (Poster, which we also didn’t use it was a very productively unproductive day). Brittany moved all 246 petals rotated them, scaled them and moved them key frame by key frame for three hours straight. Sorry!

Yeah, so we didn’t use it because I didn’t like it. I know I’m hilarious.

But that evening when I came home and I got onto facebook and started my daily scrolling ritual through the facebook videos, I came across a music video w26543980_984125765085233_644242464_oith a beautiful title…

This title incorporates the flowers as the background with a strong font and title. I know its sad that I was still thinking about my production at like 10pm but yeah. So, I thank you Lewis Capaldi absolute legend you are for inspiring our own titles. By using this title we could take the photograph of the flowers and place them behind with a little editing or repeating certain flowers to create an even flower spreadage.

This allowed us to create a synergetic relationship along the platforms from the short film to the poster and later on hopefully to the magazine.

To create this piece is more annoying, sorry, difficult then you think. So we started of with finding a nice strong font that we liked and wasn’t to PowerPoint presentation this only took about an hour! this is the final font we choose..IMG_4572

I know an hour.

We then found the image that we liked from the filming of the Ophelia art scene.

We then cropped it down to the size we wanted, obviously added in a colour balance and some more colour correcting things. and placed that brilliant font that took an hour! over the top, now for some reason I still down understand using colour overlays setting didn’t work it just inverted the text to black, so onto plan B, the much, much more annoying way was to cut out the titles so it was empty pixel space, place the image behind and then cut into that so it was all empty pixel space but the title and flowers, we then placed a black background behind.

We then added in two lines on the top and bottom to add interest and leading lines.

This was the final title we shall be using throughout each platform.
